Terms & Conditions of our Membership
- A Death Certificate must be provided should any member wish to make a claim against the AIJS.
- The membership fee is only a fraction of what will have to be paid in the event of death to members, and therefore, a member will not be able to withdraw that fee unless the organization breaks one of the conditions signed by that
particular member. - Each member must pay a $100 initial membership fees, and $100 each year per family as annual Membership Cost /Sadqa Jariah to the AIJS.
- Membership fee may proportionately increase in relation to the increase in the cost of burial services and members
must accept any such increase. - If at any time, the trust account balance falls below $30,000, all the members will be encouraged to pay another
contribution of $100 to keep the trust running. This fund is an accumulation fund; it is not insurance. Your
membership therefore does not guarantee funeral funding however, every effort will be made to raise such funds in
the event AIJS does not have enough assets. This minimum account balance of $30,000 may proportionately
increase in relation to the increase in the cost of burial services. - Members are only entitled to cover the standard and most basic costs for burying according to Sunnah.
- If someone is terminally ill and wish to join the fund, he/she must have a waiting period of six months from the date
of joining to be eligible to be a member. - In the event of a deceased newborn baby (less than one month old), AIJS will carry out the benefits of membership
on condition that the immediate family of the deceased are all members and $200 is paid on behalf of the deceased
to AIJS. - AIJS will not pay members directly. AIJS will manage what entities are paid and engaged to ensure maximisation of
benefit and minimisation of expenditure. - AIJS will only support Islamic funeral services.
- In the event of a member who died while inside Australia, the family of this deceased member can ask the
organisation to cover the funeral service fee for the deceased member. In that condition family must provide all
supporting documents (receipts, proof of payments etc.) as evidence that the deceased member’s funeral procedure
had already been taken care. In this situation the AIJS will cover up to a $8000 or standard cost in current Mitchell
cemetery, whichever is minimum. - In the event of a member left ACT permanently and live in his/her new location outside ACT over six month or
longer, he/she will not be considered as member of AIJS. In the event of his/her death the AIJS will not support the
funeral cost. - The grave specifications and funeral rituals are to comply with Sunnah and ACT legislation.
- There are no restrictions on membership on the basis that an individual is not an Australian citizen, is only a visitor or similar.
- A member must notify the organisation in case of any changes in membership details from the time of registration
such as name, contacts and address details of the member (including other members from his/her family). - A member or their guardian is to sign the application form after reading and accepting the Terms and conditions.
- Conditions in English are the only ones that are accredited and recognised by the organisation. (Conditions in Arabic will also be provided but they will be recognised as information only).
- In case on any pandemic situation or any other reason if AIJS member death increase huge number, then AIJS will help their member as first come first serve basis as long as we have money and graves available.
